It’s been a while since my last update. To be honest, I got a bit off track from what I wanted to accomplish—but looking back, I realize that “distractions” are often just different forms of progress.
The “Deep Dive” Distraction
After my last post, I fell down a rabbit hole trying to build a custom like button and comments section for this site. While there were definitely easier out-of-the-box solutions, I chose to utilize Google Firebase.
My goal was twofold: I wanted to learn a more in-depth system, and I wanted a solution that prioritized user data privacy. It took about a week of late-night “messing around” to get it working. While there are still a few kinks to iron out, I’m proud of the technical foundation I built.
Life, Sickness, and Small Wins
Following that project, life happened. Between a wave of family illnesses and the rush of the holiday season, my progress on the Agentic AI course came to a halt.
However, I didn’t let my momentum stop entirely. In the quiet moments, I kept the gears turning by practicing Python and listening to programming podcasts. It made me realize that even when we aren’t sprinting, making small, consistent steps is what actually makes a habit stick.
2026: The Year of Momentum
With the New Year here, my mantra for 2026 is Momentum.
My philosophy is simple: Progress over perfection. Even on days when I can’t finish a full lesson, doing something is better than doing nothing. For the year ahead, my roadmap is clear:
Complete the Hugging Face Agentic AI Course: Picking up right where I left off in Unit 2!
Master a New Language: I’m currently eyeing Rust for its performance and safety features.
To give you an idea of why I’m intrigued, look at the difference in how these two languages handle a simple “Goal Setter” function:
Python (The Friendly Favorite):
Python
def set_goal(goal):
print(f"My 2026 goal is: {goal}")
set_goal("Momentum")
Rust (The New Challenger):
Rust
fn main() {
let goal = "Momentum";
println!("My 2026 goal is: {}", goal);
}
Rust definitely has a bit more “syntax” to it, but the memory safety and speed it offers are legendary. I can’t wait to see how it compares as I dive deeper.
Looking Ahead
I’m excited to see where this momentum takes me, and I hope your 2026 is off to an incredible start as well! Whether you’re getting back on track or starting something brand new, I wish you a year of steady progress and big wins.
What are your goals for 2026? Are you sticking with a familiar language or venturing into something new? Send me a message on LinkedIn—I’d love to hear what you’re working on and keep the conversation going there!
Here’s to a productive and growth-filled 2026!
